1 Surefire Way To Kill Our Walk With Jesus.

What a day in church!  Listening to the message could be described as "a joy" and  following along with the worship band -- absolutely super.

But communion struck home.

Reflecting back on my life, processing how Jesus took a young Marine and totally changed everything, and how He walked the road to Calvary in order that He might walk His way into my heart when I invited Him in: 

"Way over top" love.  And faithfulness.  Consistent, never-ending faithfulness. 

Which leads me to... my point in this brief time of sharing: 


1 Surefire Way To Kill Your Faith In Jesus: Never Remember The Cross

We may never be able to understand Jesus' walk on that road to Calvary: never. 

But we can contemplate the reality of the:

Love,
Sacrifice,
Determination,
And Purpose-filled Actions...

By Savior of our life to bring us to Himself through His death, burial, resurrection and ascension into glory. 

And I believe that contemplate we must.  We must rehearse the grim side of reality: the reality of an awful walk of up that hill by Jesus...

For us. 

So Decide To Remember.

Today may or may not be "communion day" for you.  You may or may not have...

Been to church,
Read the Bible,
Meditated on Jesus because of a song,
Or otherwise been in any kind of "spiritual moment."

Which, by the way, is fine: correct? 

In other words, we don't live in church, recite the Bible "24/7," listen to Christian music every second of the day, and often cannot define each moment of the day as a "spiritual one."

But we can take time,
Make the choice,
And tune in to what Jesus has done for us on that tree. 

We can do such in our way, according to how we process what Jesus and His salvation has meant -- and means -- to us: that we can do.

And we should. 

We can take the time, put the worship music on, open the Bible, take time to meditate, go for a walk, write in our journal, open the devotional we value at the time, or any other "can do" action or attitude that....

Brings us to the feet of Jesus in worship, praise and thanksgiving for His bringing us to Himself.  

And in doing so we can defeat one sure way of killing our walk with Him.

"Lord, you know I never will be able to comprehend your awful walk up that hill and the sacrifice that followed.  Never. But, Oh Jesus, I can at least tell you 'thanks for my life.'  Thanks for the love, faithfulness and your walking with me every day -- every day -- since I met you as my Savior face to face in the Marine Corps barracks. Lord, strengthen me not to forget and live for you from the inside out by your love, grace and power.  In Your Name I pray, Amen!"
